Latino Youth Leadership / Gang Prevention Program
The Hispanic Liaison Youth program offers Latino youth positive alternatives to gang involvement, also ensuring that the gang problem is addressed by working with law enforcement, churches, schools and other youth serving agencies in the Chatham County. The program also engages in community outreach around a variety of issues that affect the well-being of young people in our community.
The group is open to high school students between the ages of 15-18 and meets at Jordan Matthews every Friday after school, Northwood every other Monday after school and is starting up at Chatham Central.
The purpose of the group is to:
- Provide an alternative to negative social outlets
- Participate in community service as well as cultural and educational activities
- Provide support to assist members with educational attainment and personal growth
